On the occasion of World Day of the Poor, Carmel School in a show of remarkable compassion, extended a gesture towards the Snehalaya Charitable Trust, which cares for the underprivileged and vulnerable. On November 9th, 2024, students from Grades 1-5 came together to donate essential goods such as soap cakes, bath towels, detergents, and other daily necessities to support the Trust’s mission. This event, which had been anticipated for weeks, was a moving demonstration of solidarity with those who are often forgotten by society.
Brother Joseph, the founder of the Snehalaya Charitable Trust, expressed deep gratitude to the school community for their generosity. He spoke passionately about the history of the trust and the lives it has touched, explaining the challenges faced by the inmates, many of whom are elderly, sick, or destitute. He described how the contributions would go a long way in improving the lives of those who rely on the trust's services, providing them with dignity, care, and essential provisions.
The morning assembly that followed was a deeply reflective occasion, dedicated to the cause of the poor, the sick, and the elderly. Through scripture readings, personal anecdotes, and moments of reflection, students were encouraged to understand and empathize with the hardships faced by those less fortunate. This special gathering, led by the Dr. Sr. Prem D Souza ,The Administrator, Rev Sr. Premal A.C. –The Vice Principal , Brother Joseph left a lasting impression on the students, instilling in them a sense of compassion and a renewed commitment to social responsibility.
