Kannada Rajyotsava, the state festival of Karnataka, is observed annually on November 1st, celebrating the pride and heritage of Kannada culture. Carmel School Mangaluru celebrated the 69th Kannada Rajyotsava and Deepawali on October 30th 2024 with great enthusiasm, showcasing the rich cultural pride and festive spirit of our students and staff.

The program was hosted by the students of Class 4 (A, B, and C) in the school auditorium. The stage was beautifully decorated in vibrant red and yellow flowers, flags, and colorful deepas and gududeepas, creating an enchanting atmosphere that captured the essence of the celebrations.

The Kannada Rajyotsava program began at 9 a.m. with the hoisting of the Karnataka flag by the chief guest, Dr. Krishna Prabha, Physics Lecturer at Government First Grade College, Carstreet, Mangaluru, followed by the state anthem. The inauguration of the cultural program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. Krishna Prabha, along with Sr. Lilly Pushpa (the Principal), Sr. Preemal (the Vice Principal), Sr. Dr. Prem (the Administrator), and student representatives. Teacher Shilpa introduced the chief guest and extended a warm welcome to everyone, and Sr. Lilly Pushpa presented the chief guest with a potted sapling as a token of respect.

The cultural program started with a prayer service, invoking blessings for the safety and prosperity of Karnataka. Students, dressed in traditional attire, extended a warm welcome to the audience with a dance performance to the song “Hatchev Kannadada Deepa.” Through their energetic and graceful performances, the students celebrated the beauty of the Kannada language and the rich history and significance of Kannada Rajyotsava, leaving the audience spellbound. Adding to the celebration, the students shared amazing facts about Karnataka, enhancing the audience's knowledge and appreciation for the state. Their melodious rendition of Kannada songs spread the sweetness of the Kannada language and culture.

The Deepawali segment brought additional joy to the occasion, featuring vibrant rangoli, diya lighting, and special cultural performances. Students shared the meaning of Deepawali, emphasizing the significance of light, knowledge, and unity.

The event concluded with a speech from the chief guest, who highlighted the historical importance of Kannada Rajyotsava and Deepawali, and the value of celebrating the language and traditions. She also praised the efforts of the students and teachers in organizing such a memorable Kannada program. The program was gracefully emceed by Fathima Shazfa and Aathmika, with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Khyati and Santhoshi.

The event instilled a sense of pride in the audience for being part of such a rich and vibrant culture.
