In a radiant manifestation of spiritual and intellectual engagement, Carmel School in Mangalore held an illuminating orientation for students from grades 6 to 10 on August 19th and 20th, 2024. This meticulously designed event, led by Rev. Over two days, the young learners were immersed in a rich program that sought to inspire and guide them on their journey of self-discovery and faith.
The program commenced with a moment of serene meditation under the theme “Like a Watered Garden.” This reflective practice was followed by a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, performed by Sister Lily Pushpa, Dr. Prem D Souza, and a distinguished panel of resource persons: Rev. Fr. Robin Kumar from Bangalore, Rev. Fr. Ashwil Dias from Alangar, Rev. Fr. Savio Fernandes from Mumbai, and Rev. Fr. Ivan D Souza from Goa. The exploration continued into the digital realm, where the resource persons addressed the impact of modern technology on personal lives. They offered practical strategies for managing digital distractions, such as disabling notifications, adjusting privacy settings, and taking control of one’s online presence. The discussions also covered the role of social media, urging students to understand its implications and to protect their personal information in an increasingly connected world.
The sessions also delved into the intricacies of relationships, highlighting the value of self-respect and the importance of meaningful connections with family, friends, and mentors. By drawing on relatable examples, such as the dynamics of family life and the essence of true friendship, the speakers illustrated how love, care, and mutual support shape one’s interactions and personal growth. Additionally, the program encouraged students to discover their unique capacities and set priorities in various aspects of life, including family, academics, and personal development.
