International Yoga Day was celebrated at Carmel School Mangalore on 21st June 2022 in the School Auditorium.
Mr. Anantha Krishna B.S -Yoga Therapist in NIMHANS Bangalore and Vydehi Institute of Rehabilitation, Vydehi Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre, Bangalore, Freelance Yoga Therapist in Samyoga Holistic Centre, Consultant Yoga Therapist, RECOUP Neuro Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Centre Bangalore and Yoga Therapist and Junior Researcher, SVYASA Yoga University, Bangalore was the Chief Guest.In keeping with the year’s theme “yoga for humanity” the school celebrated the 8th International Yoga Day with zeal and zest.
The programme began with the welcoming of the Chief Guest with various symbols that represented the earth, water and fire and their influence on human life. Students of Grade 9A aided the audience to reflect on the unity of Divine spirit which pervades everything in the earth and the atmosphere -calls of hope and promises of better days and to connect with each other and strengthen the bonds of community. The significance of the day was highlighted through PPT and a skit subsequently embraced yoga with the rhythm of music and dance-manifestation of harmony and peace with one another and in this way, it was easily linked with yoga.
Mrs. Jahnavi introduced Mr. Anantha Krishna B.S to the gathering. Mr. Anantha Krishna in his address underscored 8 limbs of yoga, each of which offers guidance on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life and also accentuated on various yoga practices and its importance in their life. The enthusiastic gathering performed various Yoga asanas under the tutelage and guidance of Mrs. Pavithra. Step by step instructions were given for each asana along with their benefits to allow participants to consciously experience all the Yoga asanas. Various activities such as Painting Competition, Poster Making, Slogan Writing and Essay Writing Competition were organized for the Students of LKG to X. The school appreciated Arushi H Dsilva, student of grade VII, who secured second place in the Chess Tournament organized by Karnataka State Chess Association and qualified for the National Level.
The programme was compered by Mariyam and Kyathi. Chayaan welcomed the dignitaries. Haifa proposed the vote of thanks. Video clipping on “Yoga as a holistic approach for psychological well-being and stress relief for parents” was forwarded in the Parents App.
