“A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but where they ought to be.”
The Qualities of Leadership Workshop was conducted by Dr. Sharmila Mascarenhas, Assistant Professor -St Ann’s College of Education on 14th June, 2022 for Students of Grades 8, 9 and 10.
“Every morning is a surprise and every sunrise is a challenge and each day is a gift. To give the first fruit of the day to the Lord is one of the most valuable ways to show our love to God”—with these sentiments in mind the students invoked God’s blessings through Prayer Dance. Sister Shanthi Laveena sprayed the sweet aroma of happiness through her amiable words of welcome. She then introduced the Resource Person to the gathering.
Dr Sharmila Mascarenhas spotlighted on Qualities of Good Leadership—Self Awareness, Managing Emotions and Self-Regulation, Self-Motivation, Respect for Self and Others, Empathy and Positive Thinking through Balloon Game, Discussion and Anecdotes. Criteria for effective communication, obstacles in communication and ways and means to remove blocks in communication were effectively elucidated by the Resource Person. She further said” Leadership is interpersonal influence exercised in a situation and directed through the communication process, towards the attainment of a specialized goal or goals”.
This workshop was a hands-on, experiential, and reflective learning journey aimed at achieving leadership excellence.
Mrs. Pavithra compered the programme. Janice Jimmy of Grade 10 proposed the Vote of Thanks.
