International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2024, in the School Auditorium to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of practicing yoga.

The event began with an introduction emphasizing the 2024 theme, "Yoga for Self and Society," which highlights the dual role of yoga in enhancing personal health and contributing to social well-being. This theme underscores the interconnectedness of individual and collective health, promoting yoga as a tool for personal growth and societal betterment. The introduction also provided insights into the inception of International Yoga Day, setting a reflective tone for the event.

The program continued with a prayer service featuring scripture readings from the Bible, Bhagavad Gita and Quran, along with intercessory prayers. This was followed by a graceful dance performance by grade 8 students, who welcomed everyone with cheerful faces and smiles, setting a warm and cordial atmosphere. Zia Zainaba from grade 8A delivered the welcome address. The Principal, Rev Sr Lilly Pushpa, welcomed the chief guest, Mr. Ajithesha, Lecturer in Yogic Science at University College, Mangalore, with a sapling .

A beautifully executed dance on yoga poses showcased the precision and accuracy of various asanas. The importance, procedure and advantages of Trikonasana, Ushtrasana, Paschimottanasana, Padmasana, Vrikshasana, Dhanurasana, Bhujangasana, Tadasana, Chakrasana, Vajrasana, Makarasana, Parvatasana, and Surya Namaskar were elaborated through demonstrations, verbal explanations and a PowerPoint presentation. Mrs. Sachitha introduced the chief guest, Mr. Ajithesha, who delivered an inspiring and thought provoking message, stressed on the fact that Yoga Day should be the celebration of everyone’s yoga benefits, including stress relief, improved academic performance, enhanced capacity and IQ level and the importance of breathing exercises like Pranayama for better memory and confidence. He also discussed Yama and Niyama, accentuating the significance of discipline and mindful eating habits. He urged students to practice yoga regularly with love and concentration, to excel in both academics and co-curricular activities and to be proud citizens of India. The event concluded with a captivating performance of Yog asanas by grade 6 students, leaving the audience enthused and enlightened.

Menha , Panchami and Laasya compered the programme and Kenneth Lishon Peter proposed the vote of thanks.
