Cancer Awareness Workshop

In a significant stride towards health awareness, Carmel School, Mangalore, organized a workshop on cancer awareness for its faculty on January 10, 2024.

Dr. Johan Sunny Kilikunnel, Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at KMC Mangalore, led the session. He imparted valuable insights into the realm of cancer, covering topics such as the definition of cancer, common types, incidence rates, warning signsand risk factors. Dr. Kilikunnel particularly emphasized the intricacies of cervical and breast cancer, delving into genetic and non-modifiable factors influencing breast cancer and shedding light on preventive measures.

Dr. Vinaya Poornima, Associate Professor in the Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, added depth to the workshop by elucidating breast imaging techniques. She underscored the pivotal role of mammography and ultrasonography, in early detection and management. The workshop aimed not only to increase awareness but also to equip the faculty with knowledge that can potentially contribute to a healthier community.

Mr. Herbert Mario Pereira, a senior officer in the Department of Relationship and Communication at KMC Attavar, Rev. Sister Lilly Pushpa, the Principal, Rev Sister Premal -The vice Principal graced the occasion with their presence.

Mrs Jahnavi compered the programme and introduced the resource persons and Mrs Shilpa proposed the vote of thanks.
