Carmel School Celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June, 2023 to encourage global awareness for the protection of the environment. The occasion was graced by Dr. Sr. Prem- The Administrator, Sister Lilly Pushpa- The Principal, Sister Premal A.C-The Vice Principal and Sister Shanthi Laveena – The Coordinator, the programme commenced by invoking the Divine Blessings on the mother nature. The students of Grade 9 B under the guidance of Mrs. Zeena Menezes highlighted that provision of environmental education creates greater awareness in individuals and communities with respect to putting environmental resources to use even while conserving them through a dance drama and other stage programmes.
Sister Premal in her address to the Students of Grades 6-10 spoke of her life experiences and shared insights on how one could contribute to make the environment a better place to live in. She spotlighted on the importance of conserving nature for a better future. Sister Shanthi Laveena in her message to the students of Grades 1-5 reiterated the principle of reducing waste, reusing and recycling resources and products often called the 3R’ s and aptly supported by two short video clips on the conservation of Mother Earth and “Solutions to Plastic Pollution”. To mark the significance of the day saplings were planted by Dr Sr Prem Dsouza - the Administrator, Sister Lilly Pushpa – the Principal, Sister Premal, Sister Shanthi Laveena, staff and student Representatives.
The programme was compered by Nafisa Haifa, Anusha Souza and Fathima Mehek. Tvisha M S welcomed the gathering and Aaditri H Bekal proposed the vote of thanks – All of Grade 9 B.
