International Yoga Day was celebrated at Carmel School on 21st June, 2019 by the students of Class VII C with the theme ‘Yoga for Climate Action’. The Chief Guest Mrs Chethana Ajith Kumar was welcomed cordially by the guides with the placards related to yoga. Through a skit and dance the students beautifully conveyed the importance of yoga to the audience.
Mrs Chethana Ajith Kumar, Academic Director, Yogachethana College of Yoga and Research, addressed the students, giving the meaning and benefits of Yoga - as to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness, better concentration, relaxed mind for action, establishing relationship with oneself and the nature, freedom from anxiety and worry to live a healthy and humane life. She appreciated Miss Pavithra, the Class teacher and the students for their wonderful display of yogasanas, the creative way in which they connected the theme of yoga for climate action through a skit. ‘Preserve pollution free Nature for a Better Future’ and ‘Nurture Nature for a Better future’ was emphasized.
The prize winners of Indian Talent Exam were honoured. Niharika compered the programme and Sadeeda proposed the vote of thanks.
After the programme, a series of Yogasanas were demonstrated by the yoga teacher and the students.
