Adolescence is the period of physical, psychological and social maturations from childhood to an adult. Adolescents complete their physical, psychological and emotional journey to adulthood in a world that contains both opportunities and dangers.
To apprise the students with reproductive health, its approaches towards the students, sex education to coordinate between school and the community, Carmel school organized an awareness programme on Adolescent Health on 8th February 2019 through a renowned personality Dr. Sr. Lenita D’souza an obstetrician and Gynecologist presently working as a medical officer at Nirmal Hospital, Ullal . In her talk she stressed on the following approaches:
- Information on Menstruation and Menstrual Hygiene
- Nutritional health and balanced diet.
- Exercise and the consequences of junk food.
- Attraction towards the opposite sex.
- Adolescent pregnancy.
The sessions were structured into three different levels i.e. classes IV –VI, VII-IX and X. It was an edifying session and was lauded by all.
Mrs. Arpitha welcomed and introduced the speaker. Ms. Medini Rao student of class IX proposed the vote of thanks.
