Sports promote an active participation in the athletics and create healthy physical environment. The students of class IX and X of Carmel School got the opportunity to organize a sports meet for the students of St. Ann’s Higher Primary School. Most of the students of this school have come from a poor economical background.
As a part of Health and Physical Education, a curriculum initiated by the CBSE, our students were privileged to coordinate and arrange this sports meet, under the guidance of Sr.Sarika, the Principal of Carmel School, the Physical education teachers and the teachers of class 9 and 10. This event was meticulously planned and executed in a systematic way. From the kind contribution of the students, a pair of shoes and socks were donated to the students of Kannada medium school.
The sports day was inaugurated by Sr.Maria Kripa, the Joint secretary of our school by a gesture of releasing the balloons and declaring the sports meet open. Throughout the day the field and the track events were conducted by our students. During the valedictory ceremony the medals were awarded to the winners and trophies to the winning teams of team events like Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Throw ball and March Past. Sr.Subha A.C. the Principal of D.ED College presided over the programme. In her message she encouraged the students to work hard and excel in all the fields. The programme was compered by the students of classes IX and X.
